Safe ID Protection
A Strong Defense Against a Global Problem
The International Chamber of Commerce has estimated that the global economic value of counterfeiting and piracy could reach US$4.2 trillion by 2022. In addition to the economic impact, counterfeit products such as drugs, automobile and aircraft parts, and electronic components pose great risk to consumer health and safety. Additionally, unsuspecting customers associate poor quality of counterfeits with legitimate products, thus hurting brand reputation. In light of this, brand owners need sound measures to protect their companies, brands, and customers. That’s just what Traceless Technologies delivers – an efficient, effective means to combat counterfeiting and product diversion:
1. Anti-Counterfeiting – a unique system of materials plus detection devices used as part of an anti-counterfeiting solution. The Ultra system is the most secure system we offer. The materials are “forensically undetectable” once incorporated into a product or product packaging. Thermal transfer ribbon is one turnkey delivery mechanism for the markers. The most common delivery mechanism is via a printing ink or varnish. Another delivery mechanism is via extruded fibers. A very sensitive, handheld reader is used to detect the presence of the markers and thus indicate product authenticity. The system components are:
- Traceless Ultra Markers
- Traceless Ultra Reader
- Traceless Ultra Thermal Transfer Ribbon
2. Thermal Transfer – a unique system of materials plus detection devices used as part of an anti-counterfeiting solution. Thermal transfer ribbon is just one delivery mechanism. The Pro system differs from the Ultra system in security level and the cost of readers – both being lower for the Pro system versus the Ultra system. The two systems can be combined to create a layered solution. The system components are:
- Markers
- Reader
- Thermal Transfer Ribbon
3. Anti-Diversion – a unique system of virtually invisible inks and proprietary devices to visualize the inks. The system is primarily used as part of an anti-diversion solution, although it can also be part of an anti-counterfeiting solution. There are three delivery mechanism for the inks – continuous ink jet (CIJ) printing, felt-tipped pens, and self-inking hand stamps. There are several options for visualizing the invisible ink from small, handheld devices for the field to sophisticated, in-line vision systems for high-speed production lines. The system components are:
- Inks
- Pens
- Impressions Stamps
- Portable Reader
- Smart Mobile Reader
- Inspection System
- In-Line Vision System
- Serialization
4. Inks – a set of press-ready commercial printing inks for flexographic and screen printing applications. The inks are an overt anti-counterfeiting security feature that can easily be incorporated onto product labels and packaging. The perceived color changes as a function of viewing angle making these inks hard for counterfeiters to replicate.
5. Cloud and Security Labels – is a software solution that manages information related to unique identifier codes that brand owners assign to their products. Brand owners interact directly via a dashboard which they access through a web-based portal. Consumers interact indirectly by scanning a QR code or tapping an NFC tag and being directed to a landing page that is connected via a secure API. The system allows consumers to authenticate products and simultaneously allows brand owners to collect information about product location in the marketplace (to monitor potential grey market diversion) as well as look for suspicious behavior indicative of counterfeit products in the marketplace. A very convenient way for brand owners to incorporate the unique codes onto their products. In addition to the QR code or NFC device, other security features can be incorporated into the label. Finished labels or supply some (or all) of the security components to the brand owner’s designated print partner. The security components can include: The security products described above; one of two levels of QR codes, standard or a proprietary secure QR code; and a multitude of NFC options.
